YaShekia King
From the ripe age of 7, YaShekia King knew she wanted to be a writer and author. She has since obtained her Bachelor’s Degree from Ball State University in Journalism and Telecommunications in 2006 and published poems in books such as Clouds Across the Stars through The International Library of Poetry.
The Indianapolis resident is a journalist whose more than five years of experience with covering K-12 and college education fuels her passion to share great tips and information for those navigating today’s academic world. YaShekia, who also is a clinical Certified Dental Assistant (CDA), has written stories on health topics and is passionate about sharing this health and wellness information as well. She additionally has received awards from the Indiana Collegiate Press Association and the Columbia Scholastic Press Association for her newspaper breaking news and magazine feature reporting. Her work has appeared in publications such as the "South Bend Tribune" and on Web sites such as eHow.com.
A newlywed and recent new homeowner, YaShekia also is passionate about covering topics such as dating and marriage, home renovation/repair, home management, wedding planning, southern cuisine and recipes, healthy cooking and Christian themes. YaShekia additionally is interested in sharing her insight on various genres of reading/literature, the writing process, race issues and more.
